POST-COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS
AND
TEMPORARY JOB PLACEMENT

INTRODUCTION

If no desirable full-time jobs are available , a post-college internship or a temporary job placement can be an efficient way to test out a career. A recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that employers found employers in nearly two-thirds of their interns.

ADVICE

General Information:
You can try to land a temporary Job placement at a particular company by asking that company
for the name of the temp agency it typically uses.
Ask potential employers about their track record of hiring interns.
To convert an internship or temporary job placement into a regular job work hard and network,
seek out people in the human-resources department (these people may know more about
openings across the company than individual managers).
Some advantages of post-graduate internships and temporary job placements:
Efficient way for employers and recent graduates to test each other out.
May be a low-risk way to try a career or to get a foot in the door of a super-competitive firm.
Some disadvantages of post-graduate internships and temporary job placements:
Internships and temporary job placements often pay less than permanent jobs.
Some employers use interns as a source of cheap labor with no intent to hire them.
A warning:
CareerExposure.com spokeswoman Lisa MacKenzie cautions against unpaid placements and
companies that charge for placement, because "it shows they don't value your work." Note
that internships typically do not offer benefits, but many staffing companies offer a variety of
     benefit options.
